Last week my motor bring back from the rebuilt. The mechanic have reused my old main / bedplate bolt... But now I have brand new arp main stud on hand . Do I just onbolt old one 1 by 1 and change them for studs ? I read somewhere that the clearance should be checked.

From what I understand, you want to check your clearances with the parts that you will be using. If you are going studs, check them with the studs in. During my rebuild, I used the stock bedplate bolts to check my main clearances. I then installed the ARP studs, finished the rebuild, and put the engine back in the car. I then came across the same thing that you read, about checking the clearances using the studs. If I knew that at the time, I would've done it that way.

also remember that they need to be loosened in a certin order to prevent problems also they need to be torqued down in a certin patern as well.
other then that you should be able to just replace them directly

I know that i need to use a specific order and to torque them at a specific number but since the mechanic already checked the clearance with the oem bolt... is it safe to just onbolt and use studs ?

Keep in mind too witht he torque specs and that you need to torque in a specific order, to do it right, they all need to be a little loose, as in not fully torqued. When you do that it could take some pressure off your anerobic sealant that was used which then could cause it to fails and leak oil.

Just 1st thing that came to mind.

I would plastigauge them anyway. The main bearing clearances are very easy to do. Do them now while you have the block out, rather than something go wrong down the road and you having to remove the block to get to them. Just my 2 cents.

Ive done them tonight, clearance was right. Ive torqued the 11mm one to 80lbs and 8mm to 22lbs.
