OK, final question. If you have the puller, you do not have to heat it up. Correct? also, is it hard to adjust it so it does not squeal at all or shred belts. I would rather have a quiet non squeaking car than a squeaking car that gets clowned 24-7 and has a few extra horses. Also, has anyone dyno'd to see what the afx alone adds? I doubt it, but what is the typical gain estimated at? Any help is appreciated. I just do not care to deal with risking getting burnt cuz I'm a klutz and would probably burn a hole in my arm or something.

Well i didn't heat up the new pulley to put it on, but i had an impact wrench and that worked great. But i did heat up the old factory pulley with a propane torch to take it off, but i'm not really sure if it helped at all. Be sure to use a 3 jaw, 5 ton puller. If you tighten the belts properly, then they shouldn't sqeek.
After i put on my pulley, i def noticed a good performance gain. Better acceleration, more pull, faster throttle response. I'd say at least 8HP, maybe 10 HP... Best 160 bucks i'd ever spent imo :)

Well gettin the stock pulley off what the worst, mostly because i didn't have the right puller. I got too small of puller at first,and bent that up. Then i got too big a puller which didn't fit inside the pulley. So the right one was a 3 jaw 5 ton puller i got a Autozone for about40 bucks, and its fully refundable after you are done. I did use an air impact wrench to tighten the puller to pull off the pulley which was fairly easy, but a hand socket wrench will work, just a bit harder. The alternator is kinda a bitch to get at too to losen it up to get the belts loose, but not too bad. 3 hours is about right i'd guess. Don't know for sure cause i did my timing belt and stuff at the same time...

so, it is fully refundable from autozone? That kicks ass. After the new year and my sideskirts go on, I'mma order me a UDP. Thanks for the replies.

took me the whole weekend, lol.

hardest part is findin a screw a lil bigger than the stock one. i hit up home depot, autozone, lowe's, and checker. lowes had it. the exact size is on my install page on my site.

the only way to heat up the stock one is using a torch. you can heat up the afx one in the oven at 500 degrees.

if you have cruise control, get ready to move all that shit out the way to get to your alternator tensioner bolt.

my shit squeaks at idle but its not the belts, i think the pulley squeaks, or sumthin that will be fixed durin my 60k service.

Yeah, believe it or not, for the crank bolt, i used a body mount bolt out of a chevy pickup. At my shop, we also install truck acc, and when we do step bars, we don't use the old body mount bolts. When i did my pulley i was lookin around and to my amazement, it was about 1 inch longer than the stock crank bolt, and the threads matched perfectly! It worked great! If you are ever at a junk yard, pick a few up!

we have a shit load of old bolts at the shop where I will do it at. My work. My dad's transmission shop. You get the point. I will post pics of me dusting off hondas even worse after I get it on there 1st of the year. :P

Well i just got back from a shop called "M&G Auto" in Alhambra. Had them install my udp, for 90 bucks. Yes yes, 90 bucks seems alot but in the past the owner of the shop has saved my butt from the frying pan (my timing belt nightmare). So i don't mind, besides hes a friend of the family. You guys know the part when they put on the pulley it self. Instead of heating it up, to put it on, they pounded that sucker on. It took a good 30 mins of pounding and swearing. You guys should take a look at the stock pulley. Its all tore up on the edges and heavy. I'll take a picture of it when i can. Anyone know a good place to host images?

Sonic, the guys over @ M&G should be able to do timing belt changes cheaper than other places (EcoNo Lube & RiP). I trust them though cause i've seen them work on many dsm's, even fixed up civics. But they mostly do smog and general repairs. Oh yeah they even have a section of the shop devoted to exhausts.

The udp feels so smooth through out the power band. I didn't really feel a strong pull as I gave it gas. But that sucker does give ya more pull around 3-5k. WoT! 1 WoT!2 WooooOoOT3 WOOOOOOOOoOooOTtt4

PowerEclipses, from the way i saw it, the install seemed pretty easy. Just have some sort of shop put it in for you. The air tools they should have will save you a ton of time. Not to mention peace of mind. If you still want to though someone here has a write up of the install. I forgot who, just search around.

Hey, ah i don't think its to far. You got one of those thomas bros maps? =) Actually i'm going with , my quote on quote, team to import showoff on the 29th. Yeah the shop can do that stuff. But personally i would try to find another auto shop. All the stuff you want to have done may take some time, the timing is the big part @ least a 2hr job. Best advice look around where u live and try to make friends with some of the shops. Thats what my mom used to say.

But yeah look around, cause the shop's pretty small. And i'm not sure if the owner would be willing to do all that work cheap. But what ever you do stay away from small auto franchises (spelled right?). Places like Econo Lube n Tune etc. If nothing works theres always your friendly SaTan (mitsu dealership)who would be gald to escort you to financial ruin.

Check this out! This is what happens to the stock pulley when you pull it from the outside! The too large of gear puller wouldn't fit in the center of the pulley, so i tried it out on the outside. Never did get it off that way, I just went and got a 3 jaw 5 ton puller and fit perfectly in the center of the pulley. On the back side of the pulley in the center of it, there are 3 little indentations where the jaws of the puller will go...Ha ha..this is funny :)
