ok if i just drop the oil pan and take out the spark plugs and un bolt the rod from the crank can i just push up the piston a bit to put in the new berings.and re bolt the rods and torqing them down to spec, is it posible to do the berings that way?

That's what I did. Just make sure that you put them back in the same way..

If you're crank's scored or out of round, or if the rod's out of round, it will spin it again very soon (sometimes immediately).

Yes, you can do it that way, but it may not solve your problem.

Last one I did this way lasted thousands of miles (until I did an upgrade rebuild).

It depends on how bad she is and why she went. If in doubt, you certainly can take a couple of pics of the bearings and we'll read them.

well there is no problem yet the car is running fine so sounds or enything i was just woundering about that because i just might replace them for something todo my car has around 150K on her so!

If it's not broke, don't fix it. Especially something like that. Seriously.

You will fux0r something else up more than likely. Plus, it's always just a good idea to mic everything up just in case.

Amen, brother.

Those bearings are a *crtical* part of the engine. Replacing them from under the car with the engine still installed is a last ditch effort before you know the engine *has to* come out. They are a close tolerance, precision piece, so please don't mess with them if you don't have to.

Tell us what other mods you've done and maybe we can point you in the right direction.

Have you done the Jepp TB mod yet? If you're looking for something to do, you can go junkin' and find you a 60mm TB of a 6-cylinder Jeep, modify per instructions, and install it in your car. That's always been a nice mod.

GSX front breaks are an easy mod if you're bored.

You could also do the clutch restrictor mod and maybe pick up the stainless steel clutch line from RRE along with a Larsen Hose Kit to dress up your engine bay a bit and stave off any pesky vac leaks in the future.

There's all kinds of stuff you can do if you're bored, but PLEASE, don't fuck with those bearings if you don't absolutely HAVE to! :eek
