10458, clutch master cyl? Posted by Amish_Eclipse, Dec-19-01 12:44 PM
alrighty doods and doodets. i went in for inspection and i passed but they bitched about my clutch master cylinder on the paper they make. the symptom is. underneath where the air filter would be on a short ram/stock hose there is a little thinger on the tranny that hose rubber booties on it. looks to have a lil strut type thinger on it. it's leakin fluid. i dunno if it's gear oil or clutch res. fluid. then today i noticed a slight grind when i would down shift. you can feel it in the pedals some. so my question is. what is this thinger on the tranny how do i fix it and is there a kit for the clucth master cylinder that would include this thinger?
lemme help ya with the answer in

Just buy a new master cylinder at the dealer. It should come with the whole assembly.

Yep, it sounds like you are describing the clutch "actuator" on the tranny. If its leaking, then its def bad. Your gears are prob grinding because the clutch is not fully disengaging, because the leak is letting out the hydrolic pressure in the clutch line. Sounds like an easy fix to me. Unbolt old part and clutch fluid line, bolt in new part, and bleed the line. Sorry, but i'm not exactly sure what the technical name for that part really is, but the clutch master cylinder is at the top and back of the engine bay, with a white cap on it, and a little round resovoir of brake fluid in it...but the part you need is on the tranny..

ok so the clutch master cylinder "kit" will have the actuator part?
i dunno cause my local dealershit (not a typo) is a bunch of pussies. i went in for a thermostat housing and they said which part. i'm like THE F&*%^ PART THAT HOUSES THE THERMOSTAT. then they showed me that in the computer it's broken down into a billion peices and that the actual housing unit is two seperate peices that they charge about 40 a peice for. some people man, like sellin the cars wasn't enough
