I got this code (P0201 INJ 1: INJECTOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION - CYLINDER 1) not too long ago, I think it's because water got somewhere it wasn't supposed to get while I was cleaning my engine bay. How should I go about troubleshooting this problem? Perhaps cleaning the contacts for the fuel injector? Thanks in advance.

Next time please don't make your title all caps. I will just delete the post next time. It makes it seem like you are yelling at us, and that will not fly.

Anyhow, to your code. As you have guessed it means there is something electrically wrong with that injector. It could mean that the connector isn't on all the way, so like you said check that for sure, and see if its on all the way, cleaning woulndn't be a bad idea. Check to see if the wires at the base of the connector are intact and not broke. Once you are sure the connector/harness is fine, then check the injector itself. Measure the resistance across it and compare it with the others. It's hard to get a voltage reading across it cause the multimeter can't pick up the on/off pulses of the injector.

I'd be willing to bet its something simple. If it was fine before you started cleaning, and if it still runs ok, then its something simple. Reconnect it after cleaning, make sure its connected well, clear the code and see what happens.

My fault, I was just copying the code as it appeared on the scanner not yelling, anyways I'll try your suggestions and post the results, thanks again cc8.

As long as you can use the injectors out of an eclipse, I think I might have one here I could send you. It would probably cost about $5 to ship it if you want it.

Alright thanks bro, I'll look into that if I can't get my code cleared, I blew the contacts and put a little bit of die electric grease on them to see would that fix the problem but the light still came on. Tomorrow I will try to get the code cleared out and see will it return, if not I'll buy that injector off of you. The injector will work fine, our cars are basically the same besides one being a hatch and the other a coupe.

It's missing a little bit but it still drives pretty good, is there a certain way you clear the codes from our cars? I left the negative terminal off since last night and the code came back on.

Every time I have ever cleared codes, I either leave the battery disconnected for about 5 minutes, leave it disconnected overnight, or pull the fuse. It just depends on what I am doing.

I use my obdII meter to clear them.

Did you check the resistences across each injector? To make sure that #1 injector is working fine?

Unfortunately no, I don't have a voltmeter, I'll have to wait until Monday and use the one @ a school, thanks again.

Out of curiosity, what did you find out? It seems there are a lot of threads without a resolution. Let's not let this one end that way.

Tomorrow I'm going to try my best to diagnose it @ class, haven't had the chance yet. I'll keep this updated.

Alright, after noticing a shitload more power today, I noticed the CEL was gone, I guess the injector decides to work again. Maybe the problem is intermittent. So far so good, Hopefully it will stay that way. ;)
