104256, engine question Posted by barza21, May-12-07 03:37 PM
whats up,
im gonna slap a td06h 20g on a 420a, but what i want to do is: buy a engine outsid and build it, so that way i only have to pull one out and put the other one in, after breaking it in then i will slap the turbo on, with all IC and other things.
my question is: i want to buy a 2002 dodge neon engine with tranny. that way i just change the housing to the eclipse one and other things on tranny and i have the neon tranny. but i know i have to keep my eclipse head, but i know that the neon engine has the intake and exaust on different side than the 420a found on the eclipse.
so how is this gonna work? do i just slap on my built head, and put the intake manifold where the exaust was and put the exaust manifold where the intake was before? what up, is it just gonna suck air through one side and push it out through the other? im really confused i really need help.
help please, because im confused.

I believe that only the head orientation for the neon is different. The block is oriented the same way as far as the tranny and timing sides are concerned, it's just that the head sits *backwards* as compared to the Eclipse/Talon.

it all depends on if you are referring to a 2.0l neon motor or the 2.4L. Since you didnt mention the SRT-4 then i take it your trying to swap with a 2.0L. The bottom of the block is the same and you will just install you head on in the same fashion you took it off your old block.
The Neon head is useless to you

thanks, but do i just put my eclipse intake manifold were the exaust manifol was on the neon 420a (2002, and then i put my eclipse exaust manifold were the neon intake manifold was at?? because if i have to do that then i have to clean the exaust side thoroughly before i put my intake on that side!!
yes im talking about the 2.0L 420a

no you take your head off with manifolds still on it and install it back on the motor. you cant reverse the flow of a head, it wont work.

thanks man, i had all the things mixed up in my head, i thought the manifold was hooked up to the block, thats why stuff wasnt making sense in my head.
thanks again
