104038, Dyno'd tonight!
Posted by Slo2g, Apr-27-07 07:28 PM
I did three pulls on the dyno tonight for free:) I bought a wet nitrous kit from the new shop in town and put it on yesterday. The kit is N20 Nitrous Outlet from Nitro Dave. It uses the old solenoids of NX and even carries the free cleaning just like NX offers. It comes with jets from 35 to 200 and it has NX stamped right into the jets. So I picked this kit up for 450 with a full bottle(10lbs; he filled it there) My current mods are an AEM V2 intake, Ebay 4-1 header and downpipe, Tsudo 2.5" catback, and AFX underdrive pulley, Magnecore 8.5mm wires, BKR7E NGK-R plugs, prothane mounts(only 2 in right now), and the N20 kit running a 50 shot. I don't have slips becaue it was just a few late night pulls and he didn't print them out for me, but its not much to brag about. I did 117whp the first run(torque settings were messed up-said 450ft-lbs; haha) The second run I did 121whp(torque yet again messed up). The third was when I sprayed and I pulled a 168whp(torque messed up again.) He said I could come back and he would have the torque fixed for me and give me the print outs of the next runs. All of these pulls were on a Dynojet Dyno as well.

nice numbers man!

Yeah, nice numbers for sure. My local tuner is sprayin a 75 shot on his built 420a Neon, and it's pretty impressive for an egg. What all safety devices are you using? Like on my SS I use a FPSS (fuel pressure safety switch) and a window switch/TPS WOT switch (all in one unit by DynoTune). By the way, Nitro Dave's is a great company. I'm a big fan of them and of Harris Speed Works when it comes to getting a deal on N2O parts.

I have a window switch on the way now, I am going to bump it to a 75 shot but I wanted to get it on the dyno to make sure it wasnt leaning out or anything.

I think it's a smart idea. But since it's a wet shot, as long as you've got enough fuel pump, you shouldn't have any worries about leaning out. That's why a wet kit rocks the house over a dry kit any day of the week.

Keep us updated. Heck, I'd also stick with the 50 shot for now. Just to be safe. On my LS1 I keep it at 100. I will only go up to 150 after I get my auto swap done and max out my track times on the 100 shot first.

Let us know track numbers also. Dyno numbers are worthless really. It's track times that count!

uh... Hp is a direct result of torque and rpm...

Yeah I was thinking the same thing too. But I've seen other cars that would accurately read HP but wouldn't make a proper torque graph. Usually those with the big, thick "ricer" plug wires that they think will increase performance.

I don't know, it was on a Dynojet. He said that it calculates hp by turning the drum? I don't know, maybe I will ask him about it tonight. And I can tell if I am leaning out because I have a fuel pressure gauge in car. I am very aware of my gauges right now, just because is new.

Cool. Remember that a Dynojet is really inaccurate. Most people like them because they read high, but I'd rather have a car read lower and run fast than read high and be disappointing on the track.

You have your A/F gauge hooked to a wideband O2 sensor, right? Just making sure. I see people get them hooked to a normal, narrowband O2 sensor and wonder why it looks like a worthless light show.

I have the zeitronix, I was talking about he had a wideband probe in the exhaust. I thought dynojets were one of the most accurate out there?

Dynojets are known to be inflated by far. But for some reason, idiots like the inflated numbers. So that's why everyone uses "Dynojet Corrected" numbers if they use another, more accurate dyno. Almost all other brands read lower, so you get your number, then your "DJ Corrected" inflated, worthless number. If you want an accurate dyno, find a Mustang brand.

Just a point of interest, I left the mustang dyno at 163whp (because it was getting late). I did the final tuning on a dyno jet with those "ase corrected" numbers. Lo and behold, my first baseline pull on that dyno was 163whp. Maybe a worthless Mustang dyno, IDK?

The beauty of going with the ase corrected value is that I can go back to the dyno on a different day and still have virtually the same baseline numbers (I have done it on multiple occasions with my current set-up). That allows me to use the dyno as it should be used; a tuning tool.

Oh, no. I didn't see you post that they were ASE. Good job. I respect that a bunch. Thanks.

Horsepower = ( Force X Radius X RPM) / 5,250

Where

Force = the scale reading from the spring balance attached via the pulley block spring balance system to the engine shaft.

Radius = the distance from the center of the engine's shaft to the spring balance arm. It is called the radius or torque arm.

RPM = the engine speed in revolutions per minute.

you fool... you introduced math. Was shying away from the details intentionally. Now watch this thread die...

How many Monkeypower is that?

as a side note, when are we going to invade Australia and make them post Hp and Tq instead of Ps and Nm? Stupid kangaroo screwin' bastard's!
