104025, RPM DROP!! HELP! Posted by daurob, Apr-25-07 05:07 PM
Hey my 420a should have around 80,000 miles from it.. About a year ago I got it changed and it ran fine up until few months ago. Only engine mod I have is an intake and I guess new wires (trying to fix the problem). Well the problem is ... When im driving after 2nd gear through 5th.. Around 2.5-3.5k rpm, my rpm just drops hard, and I have to rev to kick it back up.. It does it now and then and sometimes it just gets BAD!The car just studders/jolts. It happened a few months ago.. and slowly went away with me cleaning out the TB and changing the plugs and wires. But now its back for revenge i guess cause i can barely drive the car. I'm almost thinking its the ECU or possibly CPS or CAS? any suggestions????
Oh yah, and it almost happens when i'm around 3.5k and just let go off the gas..
and to add to it.. the car idles fine. Problem occurs in both cold or hot weather

Cam angle sensor harness. Under load, the motor leans back, the CmAS harness pulls forward on the plug.

Originally posted by DarkOne Cam angle sensor harness. I concur. As a courtesy for future search use by a complete FNG, it's the sensor on the front right corner of the head, right on the seam between the valve cover and the head. Remove your intake pipe and trace those wires back. The EGR pipe runs along there and gets pretty hot. It can melt through the insulation over time and give you all kinds of issues.
Most of the time I've experienced this issue, however, it's come when cornering under load. Short that sensor for more than a fraction of a second and the ECU pulls the plug on you instantly. Safety feature to save the engine.
Now, does anyone know where the's a good bar around here?

sweet.. ill look into this.. man i did my search.. i even created a list of possibilities and slowly crossed them off. Like i said I thought it could be the sensor, but didn't get a chance to look further in it. Thanks for the input, hope this is it.. cause it sucks driving my car atm.
