Can my oil light come on due to a low idle? (600 or so)

I had 5 problems after my last head gasket.

1. sloppy idle - retiming fixed that
2. overheating - second fan wasn't turning on fixed that (with the jumper mod)
3. massive vac leak - replaced TB gasket fixed that
4. low idle when warm
5. oil light flickers on and off at low idle/ when warm

I am wandering if the last 2 remaing issues can be related, so I am attempting to t shoot the low idle first.

here are what haynes says VS. what I found on AIC and TPS.

HAYNES says
base line between pin 1 and 3 is 3.5-6.5k ohms
mine is 4.94k ohms

HANES says that between pins 2 and 3 is should change smoothly while rotating throttle plate and all readings should be within spec.
mine does change smoothly but by WOT it is at 1.32k ohms

Should I replace TPS or is HAYNES full of crap?

AIC
HAYNES says that between pins 1 and 4 as well as pins 2 and 3 I should read 38-52 ohms
I read 51.7 between 1 and 4 and 53.8 between 2 and 3.

Should I replace AIC or is HAYNES full of crap?

Do you have the factory oil sender in still? If not, do u have a oil pressure gauge hooked up and if so, what are you seeing for oil pressures?

Sure. Oil pressure is determined by two things, oil temperature and engine RPMs.

I don't know what mods you've done, but on my car, with the melling oil pump, starter cranking RPMs (~600) weren't sufficient to generate suitable oil pressures (even while cold).

Once your oil warms up and thins, I would imagine that 600 RPMs is low enough to trip the oil pressure sending unit. You should find out what's causing such a poor idle ASAP. Low oil pressure is a pretty serious symptom, whatever the cause may be.


By the way, it's called an IAC (idle air controller), not AIC.

I do have the factory sending unit, though it is Teed off for
the turbo oil line.  It is not turboed yet, just have the
exhaust side and oil lines hooked up.  I dont have a OP gauge.

The T looks like this

It is not using any oil either.

The low idle seems currable by simply inching over the
throttle cable to open the plate a tad when idling.  I know
this isn't the desirable cure, but leads me to think TPS or
IAC.  

Do the above numbers suggest I need to replace either?  
Should I be searching for more VAC leaks?

Also I am suspect of my CTS or the wiring to it, considering
my secondary fan trouble.  Could CTS affect idle when warm?

I have no CELs.

Ok well I have pretty much decided I have a bad IAC.

I took the above readings whith the engine cold. Took it for a drive and then got 54 ohms between pins 1 and 4 and 59 ohms between pins 2 and 3 with it warm. I took the sensor inside and put it under a fan taking readings all the while, both readings slowly fell down to the above readings as the IAC cooled.

I then put the throttle body back on (engine still warm) and the car idled fine.

Anyone know a good place to get one cheap? 49 bucks at Autozone.
