I currently swapped engines in my 95 eclipse ATX due to one being blown. While installing the replacement engine I bumped the ECU and ended up snapping the bolt from the wiring harness connector to the ecu in the ecu..

So neverless now I cannot start the car and the computer hums when I have the key turned. I am not getting spark or even a signal to the coilpack. I have replaced the ASD and still no luck. I have swapped every sensor over and also bought a few new sensors for that year. I have also checked the fuel system and all good there. So my last option is the ECU. Since I have broken the screw off in there my question to ask is... Does the screw have a purpose other than being a support to hold the connector onto the ecu or does it also work as a ground for the engine? I do not have an extra ecu to test it out, so this is mainly checking to see if that is a possiblity before I go buy a new ecu.

I dont think the bolt touches anything that could be a ground. Visually check the pins and connectors for damage.
Maybe without the screw in there, it isn't tight enough to make all the connections? Does the dash light or anything?

im pretty sure all that does is hold the pins in...try taping the bolt out and putting a new one in

No spark and no signal to the coil pack? check your timing....that will cause no signal to the coil pack if the timing is off therfore the car not starting either.....
