103846, Cost of 2.4L swap Posted by Slimyjr., Apr-10-07 05:43 AM
Lately i'm been pondering one question lately. Rebuild the 420a or go with the 2.4L swap. I've done my research and def. want to go with the 2.4L swap. For those of you who have done this, what did you pay for the swap. (Including cost of shortblock) Also, how much are SRT-4 internals?? TIA!!!

All told, I spent about $1000 on misc parts for the swap, and had my shortblock built with billet rods and forged pistons by a third party at a cost of some $2000.
A good condition shortblock could probably be had for $2-300, and SRT4 pistons and rods can be had for some $250 for a set of four. They're cheaaaap, but remember they're not forged and the compression ratio is fairly low.

Thanks darkone! Me and a friend are setting up a turbo setup pushing between 300-400hp. will the srt-4 internals be good enough or would you recomend going with forged pistons and upgraded rods?

hahn says they get 300 safely on stock internals, more than that I'd recommend forged, if you're gonna go from scratch I'd say just start with the good stuff, less to do and worry about down the road
