103793, Lancer engine in 2g...
Posted by Slimyjr., Apr-08-07 04:44 AM
I was talking to this guy the other day, and he said that i could drop a lancer engine in my eclipse, all the wiring and everything works. Is this possible??? Has anyone done this on here??

No and No.

I was researching the same thing for a while. I know the 1g and 2g wont fit, but the 3g may fit because they fliped the engine back around (cam gears and everything on the passenger side). Not sure about the wiring though. It would probably be an expensive swap. You will probably have to move motor mounts and you will have tranny troubles too unless you have a gsx and even then im not sure. I am no expert. I am still learning but that is my 2 cents.

I would agree with that statement.

First of all why would you even want to put a lancer engine in a 2g.:shrug You're already faster than a lancer.

And second, wow that ^3g is crazy! It looks like you took the pics with a cell phone camera. You know how fast it is?!?!

woow! is that the 2F&2F ass-flame mod? :nuts lol

really . . a lancer? you want a swap get a 2.4 or just build the one you got.
once again, our cars have no magic drop ins that get us in the 10's, 2GNT power comes from Blood, Sweat, and Knowledge. no easy way

Exactly, I don't know why a lancer engine would cross a 2GNT'ers mind as an engine swap. You will probably spend 5-10 thousand dollars to make it work and you will have gained no performance benefit from doing it. Built your 420a if you wish to go faster.

Could he mean EVO?

Even if he did, a 4G63 swap has been discussed more times than I can count. No motor swap is worth the money that will be required to get it to even run.

I think you may be right, I looked into this idea for a while, even doing the whole AWD conversion, you'd have to tear the whole car apart, modify floor pans, replace the whole trunk pan, modify motor mounts, beat your firewall into place to fit the transfer case, rewire the whole car, move your radiator forward 2" etc, etc, etc, etc. (and then some) you could buy an evo IX MR brand new with gofast parts and get your 2g pretty sweet by the time it's all said and done, WAY not worth the money.

Well i looked into this myself. When he told me i was skeptical but he knows his stuff,(obviously not, huh?) and so i was like uh huh... Said the lancer has 240 hp stock? try 120. i already knew the 4G63 swap is useless, even if you had the money.(thanks to DR1665!)So the evo was out of the question. Guess this guy was just pullin my leg. Oh well, i wont hold it against him to much, ecpecially since hes helping me biuld a custom turbo setup. Thanks for the feedback guys!!

my only advice is... research the shit outta this site so you know your custom turbo kit is going to hold up and give you the results you're looking for. just think of it as "asking for a second opinion".... on everything :D

Yea i got about 150 pages of just turbo stuff. I've seen some of the turbo setups this guy did, and its good quality. Hes got a turbocharged jetta, golf, and a 1g, all by him.

Didnt that thing go on ebay a couple years back? As for how fast it is, Im not really sure its a real "working" jet engine, but then again Im not willing to research it. I bet the afterburner will give it a nice nos-like push though :shrug
