I realize that if I had taken the time during disassembly to make note of this I wouldn't be asking the question :thumbsdown Where does the metal shim go, in between the flexplate and crank, in front of the rear main seal, or does it go on the outside of the flexplate facing the clutch assembly? I'm confused because CAPS has it in between the flexplate and clutch:

Mine's on the outside, facing the clutch assembly. I replaced it the same day I took it apart, so I'm pretty sure that's the correct way.

It goes on the outside of the flexplate/flywheel, so the heads of the bolts hold it on.

Put the flywheel/flexplate up against the crank, put the shim on, put the bolts through the shim, through the flex plate, into the crank.
