Car: 97 Eclipse GS, N/A, just simple mods like exhaust and CAI

Problem: Whenever driving, at random, no matter if at partial throttle, full throttle, or no throttle, the engine will bogg down, sometimes for just a second, sometimes it will last for half a minute. When the engine boggs down for a while there is a strong smell of gas and I've noticed the A/F ratio shows very lean.

So far I've replaced my fuel filter, plugs, wires, I have a MSD coil pack thats a couple years old, and I've replaced my injectors with another used set that I cleaned very well with brake cleaner.

I've searched the forums, but I couldn't find answers to problems specific to mine, just ingnition related problems. I'm just looking for a direction with this problem. I'm thinking maybe the 02 sensor or getting my other set of injectors cleaned and flow tested and seeing how it runs with those.

Oh, and my EGR is blocked off, but it was blocked off a long time before this problem came about.

ts not the egr block off, my car did that when my cat stopped up but that dont sound like your problem

You've done the proper things so far, and my next thought was a sensor issue too. It's never a bad idea to have a clean and tested set of injectors handy, but every time I have a problem that may be attributed to a failed injector, going that route has been a waste of time. What gap did you set the plugs to, and are they copper not platinums?

Right now I have Platinum Bosch 4 spark plugs which have the gap preset. Before I was running Iridium NGKs with the gap set to OEM specs, changing plugs didn't make a bit of difference.

Yea, after swapping injectors and having the same issue has led me to believe it could be something else, but I will not yet rule out that dirty injectors could be the culprit since I put used ones in.

Both of those plugs have been known to righteously suck in this application. There are eight years of archives in the search to back this up. If you are running Plat-4's or NGK Irids in a 2GNT and having a stutter issue, I guarantee you it's the plugs. Buy some nice stock copper plugs and this will go away 99% of the time.

i've had good luck with both the standard bosch platinums and ngk copper, other good ideas might be a good fuel injector cleaner like some bg44k or something similar

Well, I ran a tank of gas with a bottle of Chevron fuel system cleaner and all problems cleared up. I still want to get my injectors flow tested and cleaned, and replace spark plugs with copper core, but it's gonna have to wait, I got tasked for a short notice deployment...
