will i need to pull out the studs for the intake and exhaust manifolds that don't have a bolt head attached to them? if i do then how do i get them out?? after a week of pullil $hit off the motor i'm down to the block after 5 days of workin from 6pm till dark (about 2 hrs). Now that i'm waiting for the head and gasket kits to come in the mail i will be cleaning everything before i put it back on.

no they dont have to come out if you plan on reusing the origional studs and bolts.
if your upgrading to ARP hardware then yes they will need to come out.

easiest way i fount is to use the jam nut method
put 2 nuts on then using the nut closest to the head use that one to unscrew the stud. it will "jam" up against the second screw and act like a head and they should come out fine.
if you dont care about the stud then just weld a nut on and use that to unscrew with

Haha, couldnt be anymore right. You should have seen the first time I tried to take the studs out.

I was using vice grips. :D

i almost tried vice grips, but i looked at the stud at how much there was to grip without f-ing up the threads. then i remember what i had to do to the axle crown bolts (i had to file the first thread down as as a hammer did it's job to replace the axle) oops.

I used the jam nut method too. That is the best thing to try first.

It might be worth hitting up the local dealer for the 8mm(?) 4G63 exhaust studs (might be 10mm) and the brass nuts that go with them. Not sure if it's any benefit to you unless you boost the thing... :shrug
