i dont think there is a special way that you have to do it.. just be sure to check and be sure all bolts are removed and keep pulling.

nope, no special way, just all bolts out and pull it apart. It's going to be tough because it's been bolted together for a while but it will come. If you are careful you may be able to pry it up but this could put a scratch on the head or block and cause sealing problems.

There's also some very small dowels that hold the block and bedplate together. The fact that it is sealed shut to prevent oil leakage doesn't help either. Beat on it with a rubber mallet, work it a bit with a flathead, and eventually it will come loose.

Since my crappy composite gasket had glued to both surfaces, my head didn't want to separate from the block. I just hit it a few times with the base of my palm to break it free. Then started lifting on the filler neck to pry it off. It took me 2 days to get all the old gasket material off. I was so scared that I would damage the sealing surface. Gasket dissolver, aluminum flashing scraps, and 400 grit paper eventually did it.

beat that shit with a rubber mallet. If u do pry it, be careful not to damage it to where it won't seal. Grab it and shake the fuck out of it and pull up.
