103170, Having trouble installing axle on 5-speed

Hello everyone,
I recently broke the driver's side axle (the shorter one) on my '98 Eclipse RS with the 420A and manual 5-speed tranny. I was able to remove the broken axle but I am having major issues getting the new axle to fit properly. I was able to insert the axle end that goes into the transmission, but I cannot seem to get the steering knuckle end aligned correctly. Does anybody have any tips on a proven way to mount the axle appropriately (on both ends) and in what order to insert the tips (tranny side or steering knuckle side). Thanks in advance!

try getting the axle in the wheel bearing first,put the axle nut on a little, then slide it into tranny.

I put mine in the tranny first, it pops in the tranny then I let the disc and rest of the wheel components hang down by the brake line, not a great idea, but have done it a couple times without it braking...not intentional!
It will take some force, but you'll get it.

Put the axle into the wheel hub first, unbolt the lower control arm and pull the wheel as far as you can forward and turned to the right(if on the drivers side), you should be able to get the axle in the tranny then.
