I will take it, lol. Chill out man, your just getting bad luck, we all get it. Trust. I say this to everyone since it hapened to me, have you checked to make sure the cam dowel pins arent broken? if you take the gear completely off, try to wiggle the pin on the end of the cam w/ some pliers. Dont just look at it w/ the gear on because it can still be held in place, mine was and I never thought of it until I removed the gear. I would check that. Also, maybe your tensioner is failing and losing slack and the belt is just slipping. Calm down before you beat up your car, just sit down, turn on your favorite movie and throw back a couple of beers and then think it over again. Everything will be okay :)

i don't know weather or not i should feel extremly happy or extremly fucking mad! i did exactly what you told me not to do mike.....i just backed the bolts off and looked saw it was there put em back on, never took timeing belt off or nothing. so this mornign when i got off work i decided i was going to check everything before i sent it to the shop. so i took off tieming belt took off exaust cam gear perfectly fine took off intake cam gear guess what falls in my hand?!?!. so now im stuck with another problem did it do this before or after i put this new head on here. my cams and caps have about 90k on them the head only has 40k or so on it. when i toruqed down the caps i couldnt turn the cams by hand. thats how much newer the head is then my caps and cams. so do you guys think it did it because the cams were to tight or it did this before. and if it did it after i put this head on whats my options.

Are you using the old cam caps with the new head? The cam caps are head specific and are not interchangeable between heads. I your new head didn't come with the cam caps then it is trash and you will need to find another head that has its original cam caps with it. If there was too much tension on the cams for them to spin the of course the timing belt is going to spin the gears and shear off the pins. Depending on where the cams where in the rotation cycle the valves could be bent of fine.

Ouch. Sorry, no good news here. Caps cannot be polished to fit. They are bored on each head, specific to each head. Can they be re-bored? Yeah, but with the cost and time of that, it will be cheaper and quicker to get another head.

Correct. Your going to need new cams too, that dowel pin cannot be fixed. I have a set I will sell you for cheap because I feel your pain, I went thru the same thing! PM me again if you want them.

The dowel pin is not even necessary... just visually line up the cam gear and torque down the bolt. It'll never move. The pin itself does not hold the gear in place, it's just there to make installation a no-brainer.

Not to cock block or anything, but you can re-dowel your cam. I got my crower 2's with a screwed up pin and I drilled out and went with an oversized dowel. No problems BUT, this really needs to be done very accurately. Easy to drill crooked. You could also line up your gear and then put the dowel at a different point.
Of course, if it is a stocker cam, it's probably easier to just get another :shrug

I brought mine to a local machine shop, actually 2 of them, and neither would even attempt it. You could go too big and when the new dowel is pressed in, it could split the end of the cam.
Just going by what they told me. Plus I would not run it without the dowel myself. Yes you can just torque the bolt down but the factory put that dowel there for a reason, therefor I personally wouldnt go with out it. Thats what when it hap'd to me, I bought new cams.
