i have DEI wrap for my downpipe and all the way back to the muffler.

does the wrap HAVE to be sealed with the silicone spary stuff or is natural fine?

That is alot of heat wrap....

I only wrapped the first half of my XtremeRS DP (Right off of the turbo, and before the Upstream O2. The rest is only covered in a coat of 1500* BBQ paint.

from what i read, it seemed like a good idea and i got a really good deal on the wrap (free :P ) so i decided to just do the whole thing.
It smoothed out the exhaust note quite a bit especially since i have a test pipe in there.

:eek Really? That's a lotta wrap. In all my wrapping I have never used any sprays or water and never had any problem. As far as DEI specifically, I can't say that I've used their wrap.

I suggest using the silicone spray since It does help keep the wrap from fraying and such. But no you don't "have to" use it.

Ive got my header wrapped in it and it works great. It stopped my CEL light from coming on and i didnt use the spray.

I have used a header wrap on a Porsche header without the spray (it wasn't DFI or whatever) but it worked great to lower under hood temps!

The silicone helps to adhere it together, plus it gives it a different color depending on what color you got in the can :)
