wow haven't been here in a while allot of new faces and a few old...
anyway
i've searched the forum and tried several things... but to no avail...

****EDIT****
1995 RS
****EDIT****

problem is the car don't start. it turns over battery is charged. I don't hear the fuel pump prime, and i don't see any spark coming from the plug wires.

I bought a new fuel pump relay and that didn't help. I also swapped my asd/engine control relay into a friend's car and it worked fine...

I checked for voltage going to the fuel pump and there is none. also my father in law (an electrician) checked the fuel pump and said that it was fine...

now i'm stumped and need some help...

what can i do guys?

thanks in advance

Well, if your pop's-in-law is an electrician then you're one step ahead. Check to make sure power is going to the fuel pump relay, you said the relay works in your buddies car and the pump is fine but it's not getting electricity to the pump, could be because nothing is tripping the relay on. If it isn't getting electricity I would look to find out why, have you checked the fuses'? Check the harness too, especially where it meets the EGR pipe. One thing to do just to eliminate a big worry is swap ECU's with your buddy, if his is a '95 too that is. If you do this and the car still doesn't start, then you know your ECU is probably not the problem.

when my ECU died on me I had no spark,I don't hear the fuel pump prime even my check engine light wont come on Just something to think about...mine was a 95

i don't know if it matters but my egr is blocked off. and he said the relay is getting power to it...

everything else works fine just no spark or fuel...

so, to re-iterate:

You have power going to the relay (both 12v and sense right?)
Your fuel pump is functional
You have no voltage to the pump

If these three ring true, then it's got to be the connection between the relay and the pump. If it get's voltage to the relay from both the main feed and the sense wire (white/red stripe) then I'm saying that side of the ECU is fine. Tell the old guy to help check for continuity from the relay to the pump connector.

yeah but that does not explain the lack of spark. I am tempted to suggest the ECU. See if there is another member who lives relatively close to you with the same year car as yours and swap ECU's. There is a way to test your ECU but it is lengthy and a PITA (especially if you don't have the right diagnostic equipment).

Check your crank angle sensor. You have the symptoms of a failed or disconnected CrAS.

ok i will check these things today and see what i can find. btw I tested both relays in a friends 97 manual car and they worked fine...

i don't think there are any members near me with a 95 manual, everyone that i knew had 97+... but if there are any members with a 95 ecu in/near tampa fl pm me and i'll try to meet up/u...

ok some bad info in this post. The Fuel pump relay having 12+ only tells you one of the fuseable links is good. The ECU directs the relay to power the pump.

From the looks of it the ECU is not priming the pump. You have no spark.

Do you have injector pulse?
**If no pulse then the ECU is driving this no start problem.

Check the Cam angle sensor plug at the three wires for 9v and 5v on two of the wires. You can also test this at the crank sensor plug. As long as the wiring is good, the crank sensor should have the same voltages since they are powered by the same power output wires of the ECU.

With a schematic, verify the ECU has all of its proper 12+ power with the key on and verify the grounds as well.

Next, locate the Crank sensor wire at the ECU. Probe the wire with a DIGITAL voltmeter as someone cranks the car (pos lead on crank signal wire and neg lead on the battery ground). You should see some type of activity on the wire. No activity tells me the crank sensor is bad.

Do the same test on the Cam sensor signal wire at the ECU. No activity means possible bad sensor. This is assuming you have the 5v and 9v power at the sensors.

ok checked continuity from the relay to the fuel pump connector and it has continuity.

next i'm going to check the cam and crank sensors but i can't locate the cam sensor, can some one tell me where to find it...

thanks again

****edit****
checked cam sensor and i don't think i'm getting 5 or 9 volts from it... is there a specific way to test for this voltage (ie. car on, cranking ect.) i am having a hard time to get the voltmeter probes into the connector wells... though i did get some low voltage from the connector about .4-.5 volts

also while i was under the car i did notice that the altenator belt had slipped off (got that back on though)

need help soon guys.

thanks

to test for 5v and 9v, unplug the cam sensor, turn the key on and probe the pins in the plug.

Check all fuses and power to the ecu. if that checks out ok then the ECU is shot

how can i check for the power and fuses to the ECU?

****edit****
i searched though the service manuals but i can't find any schematics. is my pops in law says if he had a shcematic he could trace the powers or whatever he can do to check...

Thats all you can do is look at the schematic, you will see what wires at a 12V+ source for the ECU and you will see the Wires used for grounds. Make sure all have power or a good ground.

You can also verify the 9V and 5V output right at the ECU. See the Schematic, trace the wiring from the Cam sensor to the ECU and test for voltage again right at the ECU. You could also just do a continuity test from the ECU to the cam sensor to verify the wire is good. If the wire is good, you know there is no voltag output at the ECU.

If the ECU has power, but there is no regulated 5v and 9v output to the Cam and crank sensors, the ECU is bad.
