102605, headgasket :( Posted by goalie40, Jan-09-07 09:16 AM
ok I think my hg is gone she has been sitting for about 6 months. I have started her and taken her around the block a few times. But yesterday, I started her and after she warmed up white smoke out the exhaust. It smelled rich.
Idle was ok not as good as before hums at 800 drops to about 600 once. Im thinking thats from sitting. It did the same thing when I shipped her to hawaii. Sat for 2 months 20 min on the freeway and all was good.
It could also be a o2 sensor in the back of the exhaust?
no cel
my check list check all fluids let her run for a bit then check again. compression test ill put some new plugs in.
what did I miss.

I can't recall if white smoke is oil or coolant off the top of my head (or is it blue? I forget, lol). If it IS oil, maybe some rust accumulated and it wasn't seating the rings right? Maybe your valve stem seals are bad?? Did you take it for a drive at all after it warmed up?

When I got introuble with Johnny Law, long story, my car sat for a long time. When I started it up it did the same thing. It ended up being just condensation build up from sitting for so long. After it ran for a LONG time it went away. It could be that, or is it really billowing smoke out?

I had the same issue with my old RS when I deployed and came home for R&R. She had sat for 6 months and when I started her uo billowed white smoke for a while. Once I got her warmed up good and was driving it the smoke went away. It was just condensation. I suggest you drive her some and let everything break back in before jumping to the head gasket conclusion.
