I know the Neon heads are reversed but is the bare casting the same?

Casting numbers are different with the 2gnt head being #4667867 and the DOHC Neon head being #4667086, so I doubt they are the same.

Ever notice that your intake ports and exhaust ports are different shapes? ;-)

I understand that, I was just wondering if they used the same casting bolted on backwards.

If they did that, the EGR would be in the wrong place as well. So no.
