I'm rebuilding my 420a and i'm ready to buy bearings and rings and gaskets ect. Where online can I get them in a timely manner for a good price? i found www.mitsubishiparts.com but i don't know much about mitsubishi sites and who are the best.

Also i'm looking to lower the compression. When I did a vw gti vr6 turbo set-up, I used a head gasket spacer with crush gaskets. Can I get the same treatment for a 420a? If there are none I may machine one. Any ideas on that as well? Thanks

The accepted method for lowering compression is by putting 8.8:1 JE's or the like in it, and if you're building an engine anyways :shrug
I've never heard of a spacer for the 420A, though thats not to say it hasn't been done.

for stock kit i just went to Howell Automotive and got the stuff i needed. they have a few different kits depending on what you want to accomplish

I've heard of people putting 2 headgaskets on a 4g63, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I've seen spacers on eBay to lower compression, so I know they're available. Check there, but remember it may throw cam timing off slightly (which you should be aware of since you've gone that route on other motors).

Howell or Exile racing are your best bets. People around here also buy from ptuning.

i have adjustable cam gears so i don't think i'll have to worry too much.

i also debated on stacking head gaskets because it is a reasonable alternative if i knew what it would give me for a compression after.

right now i'm thinking of keeping the stock compression. i am using a 14b turbo and i think i can get away with it considering vw 1.8t's have the same compression with their turbo and we had one set at 18psi. i know it maybe a little steep because i don't know how much this head has been machined.

in a couple weeks i'll prolly decide i just want to bite the bullet and change my whole set-up and buy pistons, rods and a bigger turbo. ii'm trying to keep my self from doing that though

You're comparing a car that has an EMS with boost management to a car with an EMS that has no idea what boost is. Your basic principles do not apply and it's going to cost you a second rebuild.

MsNs is the way to go. You will need it in the future if you change your setup. Keep us updated.

You might want to contact cometic if you want a thicker HG. I did that with my 4g63. I'm not even sure if they have the HG available for our cars, but you would have to call and contact them to find out (I had to call for mine I believe it was .083(?) as I recollect. They had bigger). It's holding right now on a FPred @18lbs.

With OE pistons, you're not going to be able to run much more than 6-8 psi. They ring lands will give way eventually. If you're rebuilding and going to turbo, I highly recommend some forged pistons.

because i'm looking at this car as a daily drive and i won't always be itching for the extra power, i decided i'm going to keep the stock intenals and i'm going with a water/alcohol injection system from snow performance. i'm also setting up another intercooler sprayer.

i was playing with this idea but i can get a rediculous idea so i will stay away from the pistons/rods/16g turbo/management. i want to see if i can get over 300hp with the parts i have an i think water/alcohol will do the trick for power when i feel like it.

i mean it'd be fun to have max power all the time but i think this will add life to the car and make it a bit more streetable.

anyone have this set-up before?
