10217, Apexi Universal Exhaust Q's and Pipe Size

I'm looking to have a muffler shop custom bend some piping and put a nice muffler on the end. I plan on going with an Apexi N1 in black or polished. What size pipe should I use? I had a Greddy EVO and it was friggin' awesome, sounded deep and a major boost in power. How big is the EVO piping? Should I go with something that size? I've read a lot that 2.5" is the way to go, if I go with 2.5" from the cat, no resonator (unlike the Greddy which had one) will it produce a nice deep sound like a Greddy EVO or will it sound like a cheap Honda? I really don't care how loud it is so long as it doesn't sound like a Honda with a cheap shit tin can for a muffler.

Also, where is the best place to get the Apexi N1 universal muffler? The cheapest I've found is NOPI with black and polished for ~$250 and ~$210 respectively (pipe size doesn't change price just color), and MODACAR.com has 'em in black and polished with 60mm pipe/90mm tip for $199, and 80mm pipe/115mm tip $245 (here, color doesn't matter).

I guess the muffler inlet size doesn't really matter because they can use an adapter to fit the pipe to the muffler. LMK if there's a cheaper place.

You've heard right, dont go over 2.5in piping if your NA. As far as the need for a resonator Im not sure, but you can always get it added later if you feel you need it. The N1 mufflers always cost a grip and that is the cheapest I have found it as well

if you take out the resonator you will sound like a honda. resonator kinda restricts the loudness of the muffler and also the apexi N1 is already loud , but since you dont care about the loudness just go with 2.5 pipin all the way from the cat to the muffler and you will be one loud ass muthafucker

That's what I have and it's loud, REAL loud!

What kind of resonator will quiet it down? Cherry Bomb?

Hey Dougie2, it's loud but does it sound like a Honda? Does it sound like a tin can on the end of your tailpipe? Like a rattling/buzzing/high pitched type sound? Or is it deep and throaty like a Greddy Evo, or regular Apexi catback?

Very deep and very loud. :) It's never sounded like a raspy honda. And I found a good way to quiet it down when I need to. I just put the silencer that come with my Arospeed in there and it worked great. Nice sound (not loud and not silent), but a little performance loss.

the cherrybomb glasspack resonator worked wonders on my honduhish raspy sound i had when i swapped mufflers.

i used a really long one, 29 inches, but cut it down so it would fit.

shit sounds reeeaaally nice now, imo
