101681, Question about Srt rods in 2.4
Posted by dsmracr420a, Oct-30-06 04:56 PM
Will the Srt rods accept any aftermarket 2.4 piston? Searched but it seems everybody running these is also using stock Srt pistons or aftermarket low compression pistons designed for the srt-4. I'm looking for high comp., and i can get a set of srt con rods for $100 shipped.

No. It'd probably have to be a custom-machined set of pistons.

The reason why so many people are running the stock SRT4 piston/rod combo in their 2.4Ls is because they are known to handle upwards of 500hp and they're cheap.

If you want to bump compression a bit, you might consider using the SRT4 internals and milling the head down a bit. More info on that can be found by searching.

Thanks for the info, looks like I'll be using eagles. I dont think any amount of milling is going to net me an 11 to 1 compression ratio with those pistons.

a few years ago we could get wiseco piston fitted on old TII turbo dodge rods maybe they are still available
the TII rod was a true forged rod
