101657, some advice Posted by White_eclipse, Oct-30-06 05:21 AM
well for a long time now i have been trying to get that dam check engine light to go away but it doesnt work. i have a egr problem. i cannt connect it to my manifold because i have an obx intake. what should i do? and also i still cannt get my car to idle below 1200 rpm. when i bought the car the guy said it might have a different ecu. i know it doesnt redline at 7800 ive taken it to 8200 and it can still go more. ive tried checking to see if it had a sticker on it but cannt find any what so ever. would an aftermarket ecu make my car idle at 1200 rpm. well thanks for looking

with that manifold, you need to completely remove the EGR system and block it off at the head. you will always have a CEL with it now hooked up.

Yup. If the EGR is disconnected, then you will get CELs for it. Also, it's not uncommon for people who have that OBX intake manifold to experience fitment issues that result in leaks. You can test for those leaks by holding a lit cigarette around the manifold while the engine is running. If there is a leak, chances are good that the engine will suck the smoke towards it when you get the cigarette close.
As for the ECU, more info? When you wind the engine out, you're saying you never encounter fuel cut or a rev-limiter? The AFX is known to allow you to pull to about 8000rpm before the ignition cut hits, sounding like a stutter box.
If your engine is internally stock, I would advise not reving beyond redline, unless you're prepared for the consequences of a dropped valve.

ok i was dealing with some intake issues when i first got the car. when i got the car it had am obx intake on it but the person did a real half ass job. silconed the throttle body on and the map sensor was on the back and keep hitting the fire wall. so i bought a new on with all new gaskets and throttle body and sensors. that includes map tps iat sensor and intake colant senors. then i had a cel for o2 sensor so i replaced both o2 senosors. but over all im sure i dont have a intake leak. any other ideas

You probably have a vacuum leak. Just spray carb cleaner around the intake gasket when its running, if the idle changes, there is your leak. There is no intake coolant sensor either, lol. There is an intake temp sensor, thats probably what you meant. You really need to seal the MAP sensor on the side of the manifold, I use a gasket and some RTV around the edges.

Take your Air intake off the TB and look into the TB opening with the butterfly closed. You are looking for the 2 t15 or t20 screws that go through the plate. First clean the TB completely with air intake cleaner or TB cleaner. Crack both those screws loose and flip the butterfly plate open and closed a couple times. Then tighten the screws back up. This should take care of your issue. I had my TB sticking open enough to make it Idle at 5k rpm. I did this and it fixed the issue.
