Ok I installed my fuel filter a couple weeks back and now im getting about 15mpg. I think I know whats causing this, and my question is: how should i go about fixing it? As i took out my old filter, i dropped and lost one of the copper ring gaskets, and i thought "meh the new filter has some new ones"... well they were too small and didnt fit. So I installed it with only one copper gasket and wrapped the other line threading with plumbers tape (the thin white tape ?) But i suppose that didnt work... im getting 78ish miles per every 15 bucks I put at the pump ( at about 2.75 a gl = around 6gal.?) I dont want to go buy another cuz ill just get the same gaskets that wont fit...btw i bought the filter at vatozone.

you can probably just get the little copper gaskets at the parts store. I needed an extra one when putting in a bolt to block off the hole from my stock fpr when I removed it and just asked if they had any more of them to fit the bolt I needed and they just gave me one.

Or you can go and ask if they have another fuel filter in stock take it out look at it, check to see if the copper gaskets fit on it, then say it's not the one you're looking for and put the filter back and pocket the gaskets, lol.

is it actually leaking?

Its either leaking or you installed it backwards. Pretty much only two possibilities i think.

I know i didnt install it backwards because i positioned it just like the one that was in there before. But as of right know i can not tell if its leaking or not. I have a 95 so my FF is by the firewall under a crapload of stuff and lines so ide need to clear the space to check. The copper rings dont actually GO on the fuel filter they go over the hardlines that screw into the top and bottom of the filter, and one of the rings didnt fit...thus there is no way i can see if the rings from another filter will fit UNLESS: I ask for one, go outside (or take it home) take out the filter, try the rings on, put the filter back on and then buy them or check another one... this sucks...i just put half a tank, lets see how many miles i get from it :thumbsdown
