101509, Headgasket Blown ?
Posted by ChloRure, Oct-21-06 01:59 PM
Hi,

last week, I noticed that my coolant "bottle" was low so I fill it to the max line. Now today, check again and damn, under the low line :/ Check for any leak on the gound... noting. Ive check my oil (10-40W) and notice a little caramelish in the oil. But on a paper towel the color is brown and does not smell coolant. This summer just beffer I install my turbo kit, my compression was 205-200-205-200. My engine temp never go higher than the 1/2. The idle is ok... car seem to drive perfect. Turbo is working fine... what do you think ?

Recheck your compression and let us know what it is. If you have a blown hg then your compression will not be good. What color is your exhaust? If it is white then you are burning coolant. Are you loosing any oil?

No white smoke comming from exhaust, no leak in oil but I have a big one in coolant. Ill remove the radiator cap and see if I have any bubble. On my dip stick my oil seem to have a milkshake color.

Also... I was going to store my car for the winter in 2 weeks. The car will be outside and will not run for about 5 months. Is it bad to store it with the headgasket blown if the oil and coolant are mixnig ? Or its fine and I could just replace it next spring.

I would just drain that shit out. I wouldn't want to deal with frozen oil/coolant.

OR

why not just pull off the head and fix the HG now. fill up the coolant and oil (do timing belt change if it's been awhile) and then let it sit till summertime. ;)

Ill only have a buddy to help me on next week, but im sure snow will be there in maybe 10days or so... if I cant fix it next week ill flush the oil/coolant and wait until next summer !

Thanks all!
