My eclipse has horrible throttle response. When I rev it it takes forever to come back down also I have seen oil on my number spark plug is this normal and if not what do you think this could be and if there is anything to do about my throttle response I would appreciate it also my motor does not smoke at all but the plug was really wet ... uhh oil on spark plug= bad sign... do you have to add oil in between oil changes? usually oil on the plug translates to either bad rings or leaking valve stem seals, or possibly a head gasket... does your car have a catalytic converter on it? if so, you might be burning oil and not even know it... i know my car burns oil, but i didnt notice it until i took off the cat. as far as the throttle response goes, i need a little more info... like do you have a check engine light, and when did it start, ya know a little more symptoms would be helpful.

double edit: didnt see the On spark plug... do you mean like in the spark plug tube down the head or on the electrode of the plug?

oil on/in plug: Need new Valve Cover Gasket, and sparkplug gaskets.

Throttle Response: adjust the TB cable. A Ground Wire Kit helps, just did my own, and it rocks!

Slow Rev. Down: You have a vac. leak/stuck IAT, but then if it was the Idle Air control ude have a messed up idle. You may also have a leaking TB gasket, fairly common. check these things out and SEARCH!

WTF? ( to the guy above) dont go scaring him like that. since when does oil in the spark plugwell mean a bad headgasket? check the little things first and do go doing unecessary stuff. im almost certain itll be one of the ones i said, if ur head had anything wrong im sure ude feel a BIG difference and consecuently would have told us about it.

I think that it could be it I will replace the throttle body gasket tommorow also since I purchased the car the throttle response has been this way. I Have had the car for a month and a half. Also you were right the oil was on the plug not on the electrode also when I removed my plugs they were running rich so i hope it is not something serious. What gaskets do you think that i should replace and where do you think i should check for the vacum leaks. Any info or replies are greatly appreciated again thanks buy the way i have a stock air tube and an air filter and what is an IAT

Bad throttle response could be a symptom of many things. Do you have a check engine light, and if so, do you know how to check the codes? ( see how here) Post the codes, and we can help you further.

NO CHECK ENGINE THANK GOD !!!! But this is bothering me a little I will adjust the throttle body today and do some small stuff but other than that I dont know how to go about it also will the ground kit cost alot or can i make my own I am on a budget

Was the oil on top of the spark plug around the porcelain, or around the electrode & ground that goes down in the cylinder?

Am I the first one to suggest spark plug gaskets as a part of the VC set? How old are the plugs? Have you measured the gap on them? How clean is your air filter? Hanlon's Razor, after all.

The plugs were old I believe, the filter is not brand new but not to bad and the oil was on the top of the plug not close to the electrode thanks for the replies

Then yeah, like many suggested, valve cover gasket with new spark plug well gaskets.

hehehe :7 I feel honored to have thought of something that Dr1165 would have suggested! but yea... i meant IAC(idle air control) sorry, my mistake. but yea mang, hopefully it will be something small, but be ready if its not...thats how it works with these cars :)

P.S.: I got my VC and sparkplug gaskets from PartDinasour on Ebay, still havent put it on cuz I havent been able to afford down time (need to let the VC gasket cure, or something to that nature)
On the Ground Wire kit: ALOT?! on ebay u can get them for about 15 dllrs shipped BUT i dk what gauge wire they use and such. IT WILL be more expensive if u make ur own out of good quality 4gauge copper wire. I spent $31 on 15ft and like a few more on the ring terminals. But i did have a noticeable improvent, and i havent even grounded the alternator (which should give the greatest gain, ran out of ring terminals)
