101207, New engine wont turn over

I just put my complete rebuilt 420a engine in my car tonight tho when i crank it over nothing happens, just a little click. We put a charger on the battery and it reads 7 amps when the key is off, isnt it supposed to be at 2, any idea's?

You mean the charger's putting 7 amps to the battery? Did you check the voltage before you put the charger on it? Your battery's probably toast.

No its not dead i think. The windows go up fine and all my lights are on fine. Doesnt have the signs of a dead battery.

Try and start it from the starter.. my ignition switch is jacked somewhere and I had to start it from the starter with a screwdriver.

love the 2g

Starting engines takes much more energy than raising power windows up and down. Your battery could still be "dead" in the sense that it just can't put out enough current to turn the engine over...

Yup. Think about it. How hard is it for you to use a wrench to turn the motor over by hand? The window? Exactly.

If you have a five speed car (and this engine has been run a good number of times since assembly), you could try push starting it, but I wouldn't advise this at this junction.
