Anyone had any probs with a fuel pressure gauge not reading?? its brand new, just installed before i tore her apart last time... worked fine, now the engine starts and runs perfectly, but no fuel pressure... its mechanical.... also, i am getting white smoke out the exhaust... but it smells like gas vapor real strong, not oil.. strange.. even after i turn the engine off, it'll smoke for a minute or so a little.... any thoughts? i need to splice my 02 wires and hook up the new sensor. oil is full, level has never changed, never had any oil usage probs, just a little blow by under high boost like normal.... i run obd-2 software and calmap software, so if anyone needs any readings to determine a cause, let me know... atleast it runs good, but the oil pressure is 60 psi at idle after warmed up... usually around 30 i though...

btw, i usually get 20 billion cel codes, now it shows no codes stored... i dont have a cat, evap system, ac, egr, oil pressure sensor, abs, not to mention all the codes from the dfi and dis-2.... thats odd... i data logged it 5 times in 10 minute intervals to get readings... btw.. map sensor reads 15 in hg, someone asked me that before

I dont think I am qualified to help ya out. After all who runs a stage 5 here? I think you are the only one. BUt I have a question for you. Have you ever gone to the track with your car? Or have you ever dynoed it? I would love to see your times at the track. Your car must be in the 12's atleast.

anyone have ideas about the smoke? maby cause it hasnt been started for many many months? i let it run for 45 minutes last night while i was messing with the calmap software and other shit, and the oil pressures are back down to normal... about 35 at idle after warmed up... it was reading 60psi even after warmed up forever... dunno what fixed that...

I was in my room on my computer cause i run cat-5 cable down to the garage and hook it up to my obd-2 connector, i was monitoring my engine and the temps started to shhot up, ran to the garage and fluid was everywhere, the bottom radiator hose popped off, guess i'll use a clamp instead of those cheap ass factory ones.

any ideas on the smoke? and it does drip some water out also... quite a bit last night when i had her running and the front end jacked up.

i wouldnt worry about the water, thats just condensation that forms on your exhaust piping,and gets spat out by your muff. its cold now, so it makes sense.

dont know shit about clamps, but u need industrial strenght type shit.

um where is the water comin from? white smoke is usually oil or antifreeze/coolant. if your burnin coolant then your lookin at a head gasket. pop your rad cap and look for oil. if there's no oil in it check the level to see how much you have. if your low fill'er up and check it again in a couple days and see if your low. i would'n't go racin in it. on the other hand it could be valve seals. you could be leakin oil in through your valves which is alos bad news but not as bad as a head gasket. keep us posted.

the only other thing i can think of it bein is your running to rich but that is usually a darker black smoke. this would make sense cause of your fuel pressure gauge problem

There's no oil in the antifreeze, or vice versa... Head gasket looks good, no leaking around it. fluid levels stay the same..I have done so much shit the past few months to the engine, I just figure i might have spilled something in the intercooler, piping, or, blah blah.. could be a billion small things... but the engine starts and runs smmoth as silk. I guess tomorrow I will get the power steering belt back on, bleed the brakes, and take her for a drive... hopefully i'll be reporting positive comments tomorrow night..

white smoke = head gasket. Unless of course its cold out. You said the head gasket looks good and since I added my turbo I get the same white smoke all the time but head gasket looks good. Call Bill Hahn. He might know and they dont normally talk to people about stuff such as this because I have heard from people that they say your not a mechanic so blah blah blah. Ive personally been on the phone with Bill for about an hour talking about stuff like this and he told me that if he thinks your car oriented then he will discuss these issues. well, its been cold out lately, and hasnt been started in months... so i guess its expected not to start up and be perfect right off... the head was out and engine was worked through a little... now it doesnt smoke any so i guess i'm all good... i'll get a new fuel pressure gauge sent in a day or 2, i guess my gauge is broken :-( it'll be all good though, cant wait to get someone to mandrel bend some ic piping and get this hie on the dyno.

Hopefully i can help, i've ran into numerous head leaking situations...possibly all the ones one could think of =)

If you are uncertain if you have a coolant leak...and your compression test is turning out fine, just drive your car around for a bit, maybe even drive it hard for a tad, and park your car, shut off your engine, and listen for any "gurgling" sound coming from your coolant reservoir. sometimes even coolant is expelled into the overflow tank.

This happens when coolant leak only appears when the cyl head expands with heat, but doesnt leak when engine is shut off.

Water coming out of the tailpipe is common under certain conditions. Water is a bi-product of the catalytic converter.

if u leave a car sitting for a long period of time, the seals or gaskets can go bad. I dunno if they would over a few months, but possibly in cold weather. Just a suggestion.

ok, i ran her for about an hour tonight. I played with the dfi, datalogged her, etc.. here's my findings... new codes: evap system, whooo big surprise... but the one that buggs me is p0106 map sensor... would that be for the factory map sensor of the map sensor with the dfi? cause when i check the readings, the map reads 15inhg steady, how could it be throwing a code if its giving accurate numbers? also, i am getting an 02 sensor code for bank 1, which i guess is the precat o2 sensor... i just installed the new ntk one, hardwired everything correctly.... etc... but its throwing a code but also reading .98 at idle(yes, i know shes rediculously rich, needs tuned... all the other codes and levels are normal... engine ran fine, it was blocked up off the ground sturdy so I took her through the gears a few times, blow off valve is a sound i have been missing for quite a while :-) spark advance looks fine, map looks fine, etc....
