Posted by streetlightning, Sep-09-06 01:16 PM
k, im removing my head, and replacing it with a new head thats ready to go, i removed the timing belt and crank is at TDC, i searched and ppl said they jamed somthing in there, wedging the gears as well as wraping them with the timing belt.. so , should i put crank at 9 oclock, then just take the cam gears off? b/c ill be puttin on a new head , and the only thing im using is the cams them selves, im putting aftermarket gears on. so i gess ? is: can i just un bolt the cam gears without regaurd since il have to re time the engine with the new head/gears? and i would set them (cam gears)to o/o facing achother correct then crank at 12? then start with timing proceedure from there?

**EDIT**
NM, I reread it and it made better sense. I just take the cam out, hold the gear in my hand and hit it with an impact. Once they're off, retime everything as you normally would, just make sure the timing marks on the aftermarket cam gears line up properly.

Three things will help you get more responses:

1) Correct grammar
2) Correct spelling
3) Preview & read your response before you post

regardless of what you're changing, if the head is coming off, you will need to redo your timing once the new head is in place.

Make sure all marks are lined up at TDC before taking off timing belt. Then remove belt, cam gears...etc.
