Just wondering of you can change the valve seal(s) without taking the head off a car. I need to sell my stock 97 Eclipse soon, so any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You *could* if you really wanted to. You will need to remove the timing belt, cams & gears, cam caps, valve retainers, springs, keepers. Then you could pull the seal off the valve. Since you are going through all the trouble might as well just pull the head. It will be a lot easier to get the springs compressed and the retainers/keepers out with the head out of the car. Also you wont drop a valve into the chamber that way either.

Its not a quick fix kinda job, especially since you have to redo the timing as well as getting the keepers out of the retainers is a bitch if you dont have the right tool or use a bench drill press method.
