I took my car to Korum Mitsubishi in Tacoma Washington today to get the ball joints fixed. I pick up the car after they did the recall repair, i drive down the road a ways and the check engine light comes on. I called them and said that i got a check engine light moments after leaving their parking lot and they tell me that a ball joint repair doesnt have anything to do with the engine (no shit!). i tell him i have plenty of guages in my car and every reads fine, and that i have never had a check engine light before, he says he cant do anything about it. I ask him how much it would cost to get it hooked up to the thing that tells you what is wrong with it. he says $75. holy shit. he told me to check the gas tank lid.

so i checked everything, the car runs fine, the car boosts fine, the a/f guage reads normal, fuel pressure reads normal, the egt reads normal, the fucking gas tank lid is on (does he think i am a dumbshit?) i even checked shit like the alternator fuse and the belts

now here is the weird part, driving around when i got back home i turn on the defrost and the little A/C light blinks? i have never seen that before (usually it just stays solidly on), and also the steering felt a little tight and kinda jerky.

can anyone give me advice as what to do next? I have a two hour drive tomorrow and i would rather not get stuck on the side of the road.

Well I'm going to say what the next 50 people are going to ask you, Have you done the key dance to find out wht the code is? My next solution is a BIG F**K YOU!!! You have your freaking A/C on and I'm getting this piss poor cold BS weather!!!! Just kidding man. My guess is that maybe your alt. is maybe sending too low of a recharge voltage, that would explain maybe the jerky steering. That's a shot in the dark, prob. also worst case scenario. Hook us up w/ the code!

yeah, i have been having a lot of problems keeping my battery charged lately that could be it...

oh yeah and i believe the a/c light comes on automatically when you turn on the defrost... hehe, i am in washington it hasnt stopped raining for three months...

My A/C will blink because I am not using it. My a/c pulley is bent and so I bypassed it. They quite possibly could have bent the pulley somehow or else maybe overtightened the belt? Just check out your p/s and a/c belts. I dont get CEL though.

The A/C light also blinks when you don't have a belt. The cel could be anything.

have someone around here check the code if you cant do the engine dance, sure someone lives around you that can do this, or one of us on here.
