100524, Rough idle, surging, and flooding out
Posted by BoostedEclipse, Aug-20-06 11:34 AM
I have a 97 rs eclipse that I recentlty just got done rebuilding. It bored .02 over, rods, pistons, stage 2 cams, valve springs, retainers, etc.... Anyways the problem is with my sfmu and my 450cc injectors. I went to start the car up and when it started idling, I noticed it to be very rough. I though it was just low fuel pressure or something. I know i set the static fuel pressure right, because when the fuel pump primes it shows about 40 psi. When it is idling it sits right around 850 to 875 rpms at 25 psi fuel pressure. I've tried adjusting the fuel pressure on the sfmu with the vaccum screw, but it doesn't do nothing to the fuel pressure. Maybe its the cams, I don't know. I also got a spec stage 3 clutch installed, and i can get it to go up and down my drive way, but, whenever, I let off the gas to apply the brake it floods out. After that i have to give it a little gas to get it to turn over. Just for the hell of it I took it down my road. I noticed while in 2nd gear it started to surge. That stumped me even more. So i guess the question is what would cause me to have a rough idle, stall out while letting off the gas, and surge at a slow speed? Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.
