weird 2.4 setup with a neon SOHC head instead of the usual DOHC head
he is the second one to have a running 2.4 sohc engine

wiseco 10.5:1 piston
eagle rod
homemade ported head
crane sohc cam 005
afx race computer + safc
afx long tube header
#30 injectors
60mm tb
fidanza flywheel
udp
larger exhaust line
and a few other basic boltons

first dyno ride still untuned and with too small injectors


yes that's 197 WHp at 6250 rpm and around 160 lb of torque

don't loose your time with a 2.0 if you want to stay NA and have nice hps

Those 2.4's are becoming alot easier to come across too. I'm seeing more and more of them in the yards as of late.

makes me wish to see how much power my car made with the 10.5:1 pistons it did have a nice amount of power. But I pulled a 210WHP with the turbo and the pistons so I'd imagine it'd be significantly lower. Man that thing makes as much power as my car hicomp+turbo pretty amazing. VTEC watch out!

If memory serves, I've seen in the 220 range with more mods and higher compression.

the larger motor is making more power?? no way! those are sweet numbers, that SOHC is choking him out though.

change any of the following and you'll increase the power:

P.L.A.N

P = pressure (higher compression, boost, etc)
L = length of the stroke
A = Area (bigger bores, more area, more cu in displacement)
N = revolutions per minute(honda guys take advantage of this one because they dont have the stroke, the area, or the pressure.)

then you can go into formulas for estimated horsepower (used on steam engines a lot) and from there mean effective and brake effective pressure and from that brake fuel consumption, etc. yadda yadda.

i'd be interested to see what a high compression 2.4L at 9000rpm's would put out. that would be way loud, oh dear.

no shit....picked up another one less than 5 miles from my house for 100 bucks. sweet!

I like the looks of that graph, I'd bet with some boost on that SOB it would be downright sick!

Those motors are a dime a dozen at the local junkyard. Everytime I see one I just want to grab it and try it out.
