I bought an SFMU used but there are some things missing.



The boost screw is gone. But most of the searching i read said to just turn it all the way in. So that would mean its completely closed off correct. So can i just screw a regular screw in there to block off the air hole.


Second, it has a bleed valve with what looks to be a lube fitting attached to it. I read something about a check valve but couldnt see any pics so im not sure what to hook up to the bleed valve?

Is there supost to be a hose coming off the bleed valve that gets routed somewhere? like back to a mani vac line?
should i unscrew the lube type fitting and put in a barbed fitting?

also there is a restictor about 3" off of the vac port line on the SFMU. im assuming from there you just run a line back to a vac port on the mani. would this tie into the bleed valve at all?

the boost screw is real small and hard to see so it may be there . you supposed to run a hose of the bleed valve to a fishtank checkvalve and thats it , u can get the checkvalve at any pet store for like 1.00 . the restrictor just gos between the vac line to the sfmu . just cut the vac line going to the sfmu acoup;e inches before the sfmu and stick the restrictor between the 2 hose u cut.

so the check valve is to allow the air to bleed off but to stop anything from being sucked in while there is vac applied.


so maybe that grease like fitting directly on the bleed valve is a check valve. there seems to be a small ball in the center but it seems to me that it would close off the air trying to exit. ill take a look at it more when i get home.

It's a drilled out grease fitting, a barbed fitting can't be bought for that size without buying in a industrial bulk size (1000+). I've looked into it.

It's there to put a 1/8" vac hose over it with a check valve to the atmosphere to only prevent the bleed screw from leaking under vacuum. Be sure to install the check valve the right direction.

The restrictor should be the only thing inbetween the vacuum PORT and the intake manifold.

The boost screw is an allen head bolt that should be screwed all the way in, don't even mess with it.
