100345, totally freaking lost: talon problem
Posted by turbo8u, Aug-08-06 11:53 AM
i'll be driving in any gear, at any RPM but at a cwertain throttle point, say 30%. All the sudden the motor loses the steady cruise at 30% throttle and loses power hardcore. if i stay at the same throttle point in a few seconds the power comes back. Basically it feels like a huge hole and i cant figure out what it could be!

insight por favor!

thanks guys
Josh

TPS harness check out? Test the sensor itself? Can you test the theory with the car in neutral by manually moving the throttle plate? :wary

Sounds bizzarre, turb.

yea TPS is fine, or appears to be. I changed the sensor even a few days ago, lost some intermittent missing problems and kept this weird power hole problem though. Doesnt do it at all idling, only loaded in gear cruising at a certain throttle point for to long. In any gear, any speed, any RPM...but not all the time, sometimes it runs perfectly smooth and has great power.

I dont get it, but it does feel like the throttle plate is closing or something....i mean it loses all power. Feels like its lean, but the air fuel pins rich when it happens. Like I said though, same throttle point all the way through and then the power loss, then it comes back.

one thing though, when it happens....if i back off the throttle entirely and then gas it again it goes away, then comes back...

I hate figuring out intermittent problems, it is weird indeed Driggs! I bought another car to get me from point A to B...so at least im not stressed about that.

I had the same symptoms once... turned out to be the MAP sensor. Checked that yet?

yea I replaced it with another one I had, but that one might be bad too (possibility). Thanks for the input though! I'll go pick another one up from rice zone or something and see how that goes.

Ok the problem seems to have gone away for now. I replaced the MAP sensor with 1 of 3 that I had, lol...and she seems to run great. Took it out for a seriously spirited drive and it didnt do it once. I'm going to drive it a lot more later though, so hopefully it doesnt come back!!

thanks again guys, intermittent problems are a pain in the ass for sure.
