Full Story:

I ran and capped off Turbo oil feed and return lines. Then took the car to the exhaust shop to install exhaust (mount turbo/ bend down pipe, blah blah blah)
On the way home car runs ok until I hit the highway, then runs like crap, valve gasket had given up and oil was all over my plugs (CEL codes 3 0f 4 cylenders misfire)
Replaced head gasket, drive around the block no leak, happy face :)
Drove to work, car ran fine till I got on the Highway. This time it started overheating. And that is where I am now.

Symptoms:

Car runs fine at normal city speeds, take one trip down the highway and the temp gauge starts moving back and forth. As I deccell the needle approaches H. Then when I gun it again the needle goes back to half.
Stopped and the needle sits at 3/4 to 4/5 the way to H and never really goes past that. If I cut the car off for about 20 minutes and cut it back on, it acts normal again until I get back up to 70-80 mph.
And without any real pattern from time to time I get the Oil light as I come to a stop.

Troubleshooting Performed:

I have replaced the Thermostat
Run without the Thermostat
Replaced the Oil with lighter oil(the oil light still came on once since I did this)
Replaced the spark plugs

Ah hahahahahaha!!!!

No, I'm kidding, we all make stupid mistakes.

Well the overheating continued even after topping off the coolant.

It looks like a hardened clump of oil and metal shavings, but i can't be sure.

Penny shown for size comparison.

I'm pretty sure that the shavings came from when I had to retap a bolt whole during a recent valve cover gasket replacement. I'll let you all know what I find out after I re-instal and/or replace the pickup.

I'd bet you need to flush and replace the coolant. Your rad might be full of rust and it's just not going to cool as good as it should.

Also, on decel the motor should cool off as far as I remember. When I was turboed my egt would drop by like 5 hundred degrees coming down from like 6k rpm down to idle. Full decel.
