EDIT: Split from pinned topic for better traffic. - DR

i have a 98 rs, engine is still stock but have done almost all bolt-ons....intake, header, exhaust, coil, plugs, wires, strut bars, sway bars, adjustable coilovers with eibach springs, 17 in wheels with 225/45 v rated tires, short shifter and dave symborski's shifter bushings, full gsx brake conversion (front and rear), and a few other things. Here's my car domain page: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2207618

What I'd like to know is this....is it possible in any way to achieve 300fwhp with an n/a 2g eclipse? I was thinking about boring 60 over and doing all possible machine work like 60mm tb and matching intake manifold, test pipe, lightened cam gears and underdrive pulley, stronger tranny and stage 3 clutchmasters, stronger front axle, upping compression and fuel delivery, tuning it, and well basically everything i can possibly do to get as much power out of this engine as possible without turbo or nitrous, and my dream is 300 fwhp.

Is it literally possible, and if so, what exactly can i do to achieve it or a power close to it?

thanks

Todd

Word. Thanks.

300whp is not going to be possible for some time to come, man. Current record is 160whp NA. Of course, that doesn't include things like lightened cams and upgraded transmissions, but those don't exist for this car anyway.

Keep reading. There has been plenty of discussion on this subject. Try searching for "dyno" to see what members have proven their whp numbers in the past and with what mods. That should be a good start.

so its absolutely not possible by going all engine?

and if 300whp means i have to turbo it, which hahn racecraft stage should i be looking at, and what supporting engine mods should i do to get the most out of it??

Thanks.

Shouldn't Pinned posts be locked to prevent further contamination?

Look at the bottom of this page the section with the pic in it.

I'm running 166.7 to the wheels right now with quite a bit of modification. I could see breaking into the 200 range....IF....I was to do MSnS and ITB's. Unless you were spend in the 100k range (lightened, balanced, blueprinted everything internal)I really couldn't see 300 whp NA. Even then, it would be a tough sell.

But don't just take my opinion and run. If you got ideas and drive, please give it a shot. You might find something others haven't

That being said, keep in mind that 166 will keep most cool looking stockers off your back.
