Just want to know if anyone knows what all sensors and parts i have to change to put a 95 engine in a 97. So far ive discovered you need to change, coilpack, oil pressure sensor, cam position sensor, fuel injector harness?

also is it neccessary to change fuel rail? or can i just plug the vaccum port on the 95 fuel regualtor off and use that one.

Incorrect, sir. You are swapping engines, not wire harnesses.

Disconnect your harness and lay it aside. Then, once the 97 engine is out, remove the 97 sensors. Now, remove all the sensors from the 95 block and install your 97s. Bingo. Everything plugs right in like it should. My first ever rebuild had us dropping a rebuilt bottom end out of one 95 ESi and a rebuilt head off a different 95 ESi into Daisy (97). When a wrist pin lock on one of the Wisecos failed, destroying a piston and damaging the block, we took the original short block out of Daisy, which had been sitting outside for over a year, collecting leaves, bugs and dirt in the cylinders, had it cleaned and machined, and put it in the car instead.

Aside from a used Screamin' Demon coil pack and MSD wires, I am still running my original, 188,600 mile injectors and fuel rail. There is no reason to change anything, in this regard. Use your 97 parts where you can.

I hate to bring up an old thread but I have the same situation as the thread initiator (Swapping 95 motor in a 97 car), and would like some clarification. I was actually suprised there wasn't more info on here regarding swapping 95 motors into later year cars.

So according to DR1665, all that needs to be done to make this work is swap all sensors from the 97 motor to the 95 motor? (Does this include all sensors e.g. TPS, coolant temperature sensor or just certain ones with an impact on fuel and ignition?) Plugging the 95 FPR vacuum line hole won't work will it? Should I remove the 95 FPR and 95 fuel rail for the 97 rail? This will enable me to use the FPR in my 97 back in the tank, correct?

I didn't see a write up anywhere or detailed instructions on the site, but if there is some please share with me!

Use all the sensors and fuel pieces from the 97 engine. Most of the 95 sensors won't even plug in, and the fuel will be all screwy if you try to use the 95 rail and injectors because of the return style rail and larger injectors.

Because the harness connectors for some sensors changed in late '96, electrically they are all exactly the same.
