Should I buy prothane bushings for my motor mounts? I heard it puts more power to the ground, but increases noise and vibration in the cabin. It isn't going to be a drag car, but daily driver- what do you think?

I was debating this myself. I rode in a buddies car last night with the energy suspension ones and I have to say that f-in car made noises in places that aren't supposed to rattle. IT felt like crap in the short ride and was loud as shit fromt eh rattles. IT felt stiffer just from riding in it, but imagine the worst bass rattle without any music on. Ie. you get the downside to bass on your car, but there's no positive to the bass. Get what I'm saying. I might pick up the prothane ones and test them out, I figure if I hate them it's not that hard for me to switch them since I'm doing my rebuild myslef and I know where everything is. Howell has them for like 65 or so.

The Prothane ones are twice as hard. I've had both. If you have to ask about the comfort polyurethane is not for you.

I've got the prothane side and front mount inserts right now. I freakin loved the difference. Sure it's going to rattle and make more noise, but, big deal...you get used to it before you know it.

My stock mounts were pretty much worn out and rotted. Putting these in made a world of difference. For one the motor wasn't being jarred all over the place between shifts.

Be wary of the Prothanes though, if you plan on installing the side mounts you will have to pull the mount out, and remove/drive out the 1/8" or however thick ring that runs within the inside diameter of the mount.

I have the entire prothane kit on mine. It definetally rattles, but I got used to it quickly. And I didn't expect to feel a difference, but it does apear to have put more power to the ground as you said.

Rattles, vibrates, bumps, shakes... But, it cut down on my wheelhop.

definately need it if you are going over 250fwhp.

There's another cheap option...fill the stock motor mounts with urethane. You can go to your local hardware store and buy urethane caulking. Just squirt it into the motor mount in 1/2" increments, let it dry and put more in. Firms it up without being too hard or too expensive.
