ok so i finally broke down and decided to do this, but i am having trouble. i have everything unbolted from the valve body, besides the #25 torx, and its just kinding sitting there, but i cant get it to come out. i also cant get the shift rod or whatever out of the hole? i try and pull up on it, and it just pulls the valve body up with it, what am i doing wrong? i also disconnected the sensor, so im pretty sure its just the shift rod holding it in place, but was all i was supposed to do was take the 10mm nut off the shift wire thing?

edit: yeah im a tard, i figured it out, i was supposed to take the other thing off the shift rod and drop it down, once i did that, the valve body freaking dropped right out, couldnt even tell which springs and pistons went where, ugh, im sure ill need some more help with this over the course of tonight and tomorrow

well after searching the forums, i found one that had pictures, and his (soulcontroller) showed he had 3 pistons, only 2 fell out for me, is something wrong?

thanks for the replies, keep them coming -lol- but no, i found out about that 3rd piston, but now i dont know which spring goes where since the body just dropped right out and i couldnt see. there is a bigger green one, and a smaller grey one. i believe the bigger grey one had an extra spring in it, but i guess that doesnt matter since i put new ones in all the pistons anyways, but does anyone know which piston gets the bigger green spring?

alright seriously, can someone help me, im begging here, i cant find my answers through searching, and i know there are people on here who have done the shift kit, so please just help me out. well i called transgo themselves and asked the guy about the green bigger spring, and he said it goes in the UD piston, so hopefully thats right, but i got it all put back together, got the springs in and everything, tightened it all back up, put the shift rod back together, and went to go and try shifting, and it wouldnt get out of L, why is that???

when i put the rod back together like in the directions, i twisted the whole thing until the park rod had that clip thing over top the other thing, so it was holding on to it, was that right?

And sounds like you need to take it off again and recheck everything.

wow, hey, i finally got a reply, haha, but yeah i figured out what it was, i had that whole shift rod assembly thing hooked up wrong. when i took the valve body back out, the plate was sitting on an angle, nothing was where it was supposed to be, the park rod came out of place, the manual valve(i think?) wasnt in the little groove on the body, but it was an easy fix, took all of about 2 minutes.

put it all back together, put a good amount of rtv on the gasket, tightened it all down, filled it up with 5qts, took it for a drive, but i didnt notice any difference. so i checked fluid, there was barely any in there from what the dipstick showed, so i added about 2 more qts to get it to the hot lvl, drove it around some more, and today i think i can feel a difference, not a major one, like it pulls me out of my seat everytime it shifts, but it does seem a little faster inbetween shifts, and there isnt much downtown between them, so i guess for $20 and about a days total of time, it was worth it, just hope the tranny dont fall out :shrug

Keep an eye on that fluid and make sure its filled up to spec, I forget what the right amount is. If its not you can kiss your A604 goodbye. Low fluid level will cause excessive heat in the clutchpacks and they will get burnt up. It never hurts to double check. Glad you got everything figured out man.
