Posted by honda_dx, Jul-23-06 06:02 PM
hey guys i was wondering if anybody had any experience with the P.I.T Header for the eclipse? i figured this way might be a little more legit than going the ebay route and just wanted to see if anybody had one. thanks

heres the link http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=11057&catalogIdentifier=SportsCompact&categoryId=26439&parentCategoryId=10901

I know nothing about them. More legit than a proven Pacesetter or OBX that you can get from ebay? I don't know about that.

BTW, I'm just curious, what the hell is up with your display name?:wary

All I can say is that Jeg's has been around forever. If that header turns out to be crap, they'd be more apt to make things right than, say, NOLIMITMO'SPORTIN or G-UNITCUSTOMS on eBay.

Since you're obviously a young fellow who's going to have a tight budget starting out, I would suggest looking into basic maintenance items and possibly simpler mods like a GST catback (sounds great and offers decent gains without attracting the 5-0), eBay short ram intake with a K&N filter and an underdrive pulley to get started. You could likely get all these mods for under $250 and you would get some idea if you really enjoy working on the engine. Additionally, you could use all three mods with a turbo system in the future*.

Just a thought.

*Note: The $15 intake pipe could be tossed and the $50 filter used on the turbo system, imo.

Nope.

1) Make sure it's for a 420A Eclipse.
2) it looks okay. Stainless, 4-1, 2-piece. It's not the worst I've seen.

Go for it. Write a review on it.

Yeah.....if you are going to get it make sure to buy it from Jeg's cause they will definatly replace it if there is some defect with it......Me personally I would save up and buy some quality headers like Greddy.............I've seen the OBX headers......both the 4-2-1 and the 4-1 are pretty nice piece plus it has the O2 sensor in the stock location so you don't have to extend the O2 wires to make it work......

Or be less susceptible to Super Street propaganda and get the cheapest header you can bolt up. You could get four Pacesetters (used) for the price of a Greddy, new. :thumbsup

I paid $250 for my Greddy 4-1 used two years ago. I just saw one go in the FS section for $150. That's cheaper than the PIT listed and this is one hell of a header, buy the Greddy off of whats-his-name (I wasn't paying attention, sorry whats-his-name :( ) through some SS polish to it (I need to on mine) cause SS looks bitchin' when it's all polished up, and have fun. Don't expect this to net you the same type of gains a header will get you on a V-8, it's just not the same, but it's definately a noticable improvment and a great buy if you're not going turbo. If you are going turbo anytime soon though, just save your money for that, you have no idea how long it can take to piece together a turbo kit when you're buying other parts at the same time.
