The pistons, rods and rings themselves can handle a 1000hp. The crank/block and headgasket limits remain to be seen (things can be done though. head studs and custom gaskets, sealers can allow almost any amount of boost on the gasket. Crower cranks can be had for $2000. SS valves will take care of the top end provided you dont extend the rev limit). The block is what no one seems to know (no one has ever broken one to my knowledge). As for detonation. $10K engines blow up everyday from it. No amount of money spent and use of strong parts will overcome a bad case of detonation. There is no such thing as a detonation proof bottome end (sure a minor case might not fly the head off but I still wouldn't want to buy that engine after a small bout of detonation).
