Great idea, but I bet even if you made this a sticky at the top of every forum, you won't get 16 guys to show up. I'd love to see it, but past experience tells me they'll all flake out at the last minute. Half of the 2gnt'ers aren't even running at the SO. How many made passes last year? Hell, I'd be surprised if you get more than 5 guys.

It doesn't matter what you have on the car. The 1/4 is more than just a pure HP contest like all racing is. There is alot to do with suspension, driving, shifting, and tuning that a high peak HP number just doesn't tell you. Personally I'm not going to even launch hard, feathering out of the box at 2k. Last thing I need to do after driving 1500 miles to get there is to put the car through 300hp+ jolt.

Well, I'm 80K on the stock timming belt so I don't want to slam a piston. However I have never raced or anything on a track before and it sounds like fun. How much does this all cost?

Yes Sir!! I'm driving the eclipse down there, and my buddy is driving the Z down there friday night. It is the DSM shootout :P I gotta bring my DSM, DSM Lookalike, whatever you want to call it. So yeah, I'll have both cars there. I just got the Z back! Good as new! So I'll be ripping into the eclipse this weekend to get it ready for the Shootout. Well, I'll be working on the eclipse right after I do the headgasket on my buddies 97 neon. :bash

Last year we got there abotu 7:00pm or so. If we're doing this on Friday, we'll have to make sure we get there at a decent hour.

I just located a 2000 neon tranny, so perhaps I'll have time to swap trannies. I don't know if I want to risk it though.

Naw, I was just yankin chain a bit! Seriously, though, I would like to attend the Friday nite session and make a couple runs for the entertainment of the 2GNT faithful if you all are going to be there!

As much as I would enjoy racing you folks, my car is not appropriate to the spirit of the class. For one, the slicks will only go away after you pry them from my cold dead fingers (I really don't have a 'street tire' setup). For another, I don't like being a ringer. I'd rather just make a couple of passes, and watch you guys duke it out!

However, I will add to the pot. As we are avid contingency sponsors in both NOPI and NHRA, I will add $100 to the winner if using an HRC turbosystem!

As for the Shootout itself, here's my thoughts:

My RS fits no category except Quick 16, but even there we have a hitch: it's not 4G63 powered. I would be more than willing to try and qualify for that class, as I could even gut the car and give it all she's got, which could get me into mid-low 10's. A far cry from eight second machines, but what the hell...at least I get to make some wicked qualifying passses in front of everyone, and who knows, might could go a round or two!

As it is, looks like I will have to settle for Brackets, and I don't even know if slicks are allowed there, although I would assume so from the rules stated. But I think it sucks that a DSM like mine isn't even allowed to run the baddest class simply because of 4G63 racism!

This whole Shootout deal, every year, makes me want to do a DSM shootout of my own that doesn't shit on everyone who does not have a 4G63 or all-wheel drive. Dave lives in a bit of a vacuum, and as the event morphs into the EVO nats, I see a mostly uncared for, yet very large, group of DSM's who need a less biased event.

As for the EVO Nats comment, it seems like that is the case. Even Dave is starting to bash DSMs and their owners. Pretty sad :(

So Bill ... what classifies as a HRC turbo kitted 2gNT?? I'm running HRC turbo, manifold, piping, and IC ... thats majority HRC kit.

So now it looks like I will beat the crap out of the car on Friday ... this shootout keeps getting more and more interesting.

Thura, if you break, and I don't, I will drive the RS back home and trailer is yours (by the way, we sold the two-car stacker trailer...no need for it any longer). Your car, or anyone's for that matter, is welcome to stay at the Hahn ranch for repair, or to wait for you to retrieve it later. At least it would be amongst its own, and not marooned somewhere in Ohio!

Sweet. I don't think I will break anything ... but you never know. I'm excited that you guys will be out there this year. It makes this so very interesting!

YES, it will be VERY interesting now that HRC will be there. I really hope I get this 8 injector setup in and going this weekend.

Haha ... I just about to call/email you about bringing your axles. Just make sure you have them before I come to pick you up.

I felt compelled to not find 'more important things to do' again this year, as it's been a few years since we were out there. Last time there (like 1999, lol), we ran a 12.4 with the RS with a 16G, and dropped Dave's (and others!) jaws when they realized it was an RS Turbo!

I also believe that the Evolution of the event into an Evolution event means that the time grows short to make an appearance.

I'm going to bring my stock axles... If anyone breaks their stock axles they can have my spares.

A class can't be filled. The only reason there were 8 spots is that it is an 8 car minimum to qualify for the money. 50 could run if that many showed up. Run it down the 1/4 pleeze.

I'll even limp mine down the 1/4 if it's running well enough.

Just wondering what time you guys are going to be meeting up and start this little shindig. I wasn't planning on heading out until sometime saturday w/ the guys here in columbus but this sounds like a lot of fun and i'd really like to see the Hahn car run. Why not to make things interesting split the pot into 100 two ways, one for fastest et, other for fastest trap??

Wow.... this is going to be very interesting. I'm eager to see "Hahn" in person and at the track... man... this is going to be a hell of a good time.

Im afraid to run down the track or even on the dyno! Stage2 at 7psi... I'm just paranoid every damn day of my life...so 5o miles from home is just tough to swallow but I REALLY wish I could do one or the other....ugh - my car would blow up Im sure of it... grr. Doesn't the car reach 130mph or so on the Dyno? How tough is that on the car, given its a long 4th gear pull... I believe that's what is done... still......I can't wait
