7827, How Do I Check the Tranny?

ive searched on here but was unable to find a clear put way. I found one but the person posting wasnt sure if it was even right.
how do i use the 2 levers on top of the transmission to check that the gears inside are still operating?

I can tell you the way I checked mine before I bought it.
One lever is for the front to back shifter movement, say 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th, etc.
The other lever is for left and right, such as moving it from 2nd over to 3rd.
I pushed the short lever in one direction, moved the other forward and back. You should feel one gear, neutral, and the other gear. Pull the short lever the opposite way, do the same thing. Finally put the short lever in the middle and repeat. One of the gears should have a loud "clack" to it, that would be reverse.
Sorry if thats kind of confusing, but thats how I checked mine.
