I need a little bit of help here but before I start I just wanted to say thanks again. I've learned so much from viewing this site almost every day. My car is leaking clutch fluid and I know for a fact it's coming from the Slave Cylinder and running down the cross member then dripping. Also, the boot on the front of the tranny is soaked. I'm going to replace the cylinder this weekend and I was wondering is it hard? When I pull the boot back it is leaking for sure which brings the question, is the slave cylinder inside the boot or on the outside?

The slave cylinder is the entire assembly. They run about $80. It takes about 30 minutes to change it while drinking a delicious Sam Adams. All you need are a couple wrenches, the new slave cylinder, some brake fluid and a friend to help you bleed the clutch.

Ok cool. So just two screws and the hardline to remove? If it's this easy, I'm going to do it tomorrow.

just watch the hardline nut that you dont round it out when trying to loosen it.
a set of Flare-nut wrenches would be your best bet if you can find them.
or in a pinch, take a std 6-pt wrench and notch the end just larger then the hardline and you have just made your own

You can bleed the slave with a piece of wood wedged between the seat and the pedal.

I've spent enough time working on mine. It's a cake walk. Seriously. You'll laugh at how easy it is.

Hey guys, thanks again. I didn't replace the slave just tightened it and did the bleeding procedure. The fluid was so dirty. Also I went ahead and removed the clutch restrictor. I will monitor the slave for a few more days and if it leaks then I will replace it for sure. :)

You may also look into a rebuild kit for it instead of replacing the whole thing, as it could save you a little change.

I was thinking about that as well if it starts to leak again. Right now though it looks good. It's nice to see clean brake fluid :).
