Ok quick and painless question. What tranny, out of what car, does it bolt up, is it decently strong, and are the gears longer?

BTW for those that didn't read the title, it's regarding the neon trannys!

This thread is Dino talking about his neon tranny guts. It came from a SOHC neon, but I don't know the year. I would think the 95-97 maybe but I don't know. I know the 95 will work. Any year with the nvg350 tranny will bolt up when you swap the bell housing I think. The SOHC gears are longer, and it should be just as strong as yours is. As for bolting up, I don't know, I know that some neon trannys will because I know people have put them in their cars before. I think that for any neon tranny though, you will have to use your bellhousing. I think Dino used just the gear set because the other tranny case was fubar. So to sum it all up, Yes it will work, prolly with some modifaction, the SOHC has the taller gears, and it will be just as strong as yours.

They are just as strong as your T350. it's the same trans, just a different fifth and final drive.

some single over-head cam neon transmissions from 94 to 99 had a 3.55 final drive ratio. the increased size of the pinion gear and the casting of the ring gear make the setup more durable than the 94-99 3.94 final drive. some dual and single over-head cam transmissions had a .72 5'th gear. in 2000 (2001 model cars) the 3.94 final drive set was "UPDATED" to add strength to the pinion and ring gear, which makes them as durable as the 3.55 set. the 2001 1'st and 4'th gear ratios were also changed from 3.53 to 3.50 and 1.03 to .97 respectively in the base model neon. those also came equipped with a 3.55 final drive gear set, and "thicker" 1'st and second gears. in 2002, the 5'th gear was changed to .72 from teh .81 in teh previous year gear set. I believe the acr and the r/t transmissions retained the original gearing, but heavier duty 1'st and second gear, and final drive. the 2001+ transmissions use the same hydraulic slave cylinder that our cars do, and only require replacign the shift arms and mounting brackets. the 2002 base model transmission is the transmission of choice for high speed, high hp car.
