i realize that the obx lsd has been on the market for some time now. Some people have had good/bad experiences w/ it. I'd like to hear these. I've also heard from a friend that mark, bulletdsm, has had failure and discussed it during the shootout. I'd like to know if the product is shit or good, EVEN if it's prepped w/ new washers and bolts. i'll save my $500 from what ppl say here.

What you heard was probably true. I think the discussion went something like this. (I announce in a loud voice to all that can hear) "I am done with that piece of shit OBX LSD!"

Just too many problems to overcome. IF you get lucky you won't have to do too much and it will become a great addition. But their quality control is so bad that it is unlikely you will catch all that needs to be fixed. I did all the checks and balances and changes and honing and clocking etc. on the bench except for one; I did not put both my stub axles in at the same time. I found out after install that there was not enough room between the ends of the axle stubs to get both to clip in at the same time. I also found that there were others who had this problem. It worked great but the incessant leaking was too much. I pulled it apart again and discovered that if I cut one gear down inside the unit that it would probably work. Gave it to my machinist with the dimension to cut and he promptly cut the wrong side! I figured that was a sign and dropped the OBX idea.

In short, you may get a good one that has relatively little to fix and it will work wonderfully. But getting one of others is a chance I'm not willing to take.
